Hi all, sorry for delay haven't been to well !!

I don't really wan't to get amber neuterd because i basically don't like the idea of having bits and bobs taken out of her, i know it may sound silly but i just think its her right to keep them !

However the news is we now have Baldrick back :-)... It seems to have worked as i haven't seem amber pulling that miserable face or huffing all day haha... As usual she is showing him who is boss !! Also had a great long walk in the park together !!

We will probably go down the lines of having either neutered/spade but my dad having Baldrick back for 20 odd days would defo be another option.

Thanks for all your help and fingers crossed Amber keeps out of her depressed skin :)

Can I just suggest you re-consider neutering Amber?  Along with the massive inconvenience of seasons and mammary gland cancer there is also the risk of Pyometra which is devastating  :'(

I know neutering is invasive as it's surgery but I have heard too many horror stories not to mention this  :-\

and its most likely one of the most common ops vets do and so are usually very good at it + while the pups I have here on foster are very lovely again they're the result of an accidental litter that we could've done without

just a thought and i am sure others will be able to advise, but wouldnt having Baldrick taken away during her season make her even more miserable? in which case it would make sense to have her spayed.  I have had both my female dogs spayed and Taz neutered and they have all taken it in their stride.

Hi again :)
We are seriously considering having her spayed now.. it seems the right choice all ways and in the long run will make life a whole lot easier..
I don't know what it is about it, i think its really invasive.. i almost see amber as a daughter i love her that much, it may sound sad but i really do... but we also need to look long term at the positive effects it will have..

I can't thank all of you enough ! you advice has really put me straight and we can now look at and doing the best for the pair of them :)

Doesn't sound sad at all... think you'll find its how a lot of us feel about them and you just want whats best, hence you're now looking at all the options.  Sounds like you've certainly found the answer to your first dilemma and I hope you can see a solution to the longer term issues as well that you're happy with  ;)

So pleased to hear Baldrick is back   & Amber is happy again  :003:
I totally understand your feelings about Amber being spayed, as i feel the same about mine.  :016:
However one of my girls, Nina who is 4 yrs. old is booked in for a keyhole spay on the 30th Nov  :fear2:  & i honestly thought i would never consider getting any of my girls spayed because of similar reasons to yours.  ;)  Because the keyhole spay is less intrusive & faster recovery time, perhaps that is also something to consider for Amber.  :-\
Eventually i will get my others spayed this way too.  :shades:

The cost is about double that of standard spay, and you will probably have to get your own vet to send a referral to a specialist veterinary clinic ;)

I felt the same about Darcey until we had our 1st season and couldn't go anywhere! She'll now be done in 3 months time but really did feel the same as you.
