Saw this and thought Agility-lovers might like to view?
« on: January 11, 2012, 06:34:02 PM »
Picked this up on the Horse and Hound website

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5wyj...&feature=share

It has some amazing pictures - incredible definition and things you aren't normally able to 'see' in real-time action.  It certainly demonstrates the fun involved - but also the demands on the bodies of the participants (human and dog  :005:)

Amazing looked quite painful in places. Very dedicated owners and dogs. If only I was twenty years younger!
Thanks for finding it.

Amazing! Thanks for posting it Barbara :D and it clearly shows how physically demanding agility and flyball etc. are for our dog's bodies.

When William and I did agility he was usually a clean jumper but as a handler it's almost impossible to see exactly what happens when they fault because it happens so quickly and you're already looking and moving ahead to the next obstacle.

It's easier to see when you're training than it is when you're competing. I suspect that William's disk problems are either due to weaving quickly or putting the brakes on when coming down the A Frame to make the contact. I have some still photos of him coming down A Frames and you can see him bracing his front legs and back with his back legs tucked underneath him.

Wow. Amazing videos. I liked the frisbee spinning in slobber!

Some of those stumbling owners reminded me of when my daughter Holly (Hollyd443) spectacularly fell over during an agility run with our dear Penny Black. She was nearly dying with the pain of the fall, with Penny barking in her ear to get up and the judge asking if she was going to complete the run :005: :005: :005: :005:

Seriously though, I'm glad Sophie Blue did not continue with flyball. It's a wonder those poor dogs have any teeth left, and the speed at which they hit the box is not good for joints and paws is it?
