Fluid Lumps In Sams Ears
« on: October 06, 2012, 02:18:33 PM »
Just picked Sam up from groomers and she mentioned she had felt some fluid lumps in one of Sams ears, also a large patch of dry skin on where his tail joins his back.  Suggested I take him to the vets on Monday which I wil do, just wondering if anyone can shed any light in the meantime.  Lumps do not appear to be painful, but I can certainly feel them now she has pointed out and his ears are thinner following the grooming.

Where are the lumps? On the ear leather or inside the ears? If they are in the ear leather, it may well be a hematoma, which is essentially a blood blister. They can be caused by excessive head shaking or ear scratching, usually due to ear infections, or if his ears were dematted during grooming, and it was done roughly that can be a cause  :-\
