Millie was hit by a car earlier
« on: December 01, 2010, 09:09:31 PM »
She's ok thank god! Totally all my stupid fault. I hadn't locked the flexi lead properly and when she jumped out of the van she ran straight into the road and in front of a car. I just managed to yank the lead and flip her round so it was just her back end that got hit or she would have gone head first under the wheels  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(. My throat is actually sore from screaming, don't think I've ever had such a horrible feeling of dread as when I went to her  :'( :'(. The vet thinks she's probably damaged the ligaments around the stifle are and maybe some cartilage in the joint. If she isn't weight bearing tomorrow or doesn't make much progress over the next few days I have to take her in for x-rays as she's might have ruptured the ligament and will need an operation if that's the case.

The car driver was so lovely and stayed with us until my mum came to take us to the vets (no way I could have driven!) and then phoned me later to make sure she was ok. Thank god she was doing less than the speed limit.

Oh my goodness that must have been a shock for all of you. How kind of the driver to show such concern - s she was obviously shook up too.

Hope Millie's injuries are not long lasting. A big (but gentle)  :bigarmhug: for you both.

Take care

OMG I can't imagine how you must have felt seeing that unfold  :o

So pleased it wasn't worse and sending lots of positive thoughts for Millie, hoping she recovers well over the next couple of days  :bigarmhug:

Yes she was shook up bless her, she said she's been driving for 18 years and it was the first time she's ever hit anything. All she knew was a bump and screaming, I think she thought she'd hit a person. I made it very clear to her that it was my fault.

Fingers crossed that mills is weight bearing in the morning, although the pain killers will have worn off and the bruising come out so I expect she'll be very sore  :'(.
