Title: 1 yr old working cocker - Hamilton SSPCA
Post by: crazyspaniels on January 31, 2007, 10:41:52 AM
Lovely little black working cocker bitch at the Hamilton SSPCA, they want a special home for her - a family and a garden as she has come into rescue because the owners baby is in intensive care and they couldn't cope. She is lovely. She is being rehomed by the SSPCA so there is a donation etc.
She is black with a white chest, if you are ringing up to ask about her then ask to speak to Clare Russell and say Freya told you about her because they have not put her up for general rehoming so she gets a nice cocker home :D

she didn't tell me her name so I don't know it, just spotted her through the kennel when Clare asked me to look at her

Do you know if she's had any training Freya? How big is she?

I really shouldn't be asking anything at all but a wee black worker... and so close  ph34r  Don't think I could cope with another monster cocker the same size as my two though  :005:

she has been a family pet so doubt there is any training, but this is the SSPCA we are talking about, they don't rehome to people working full time so the decision would be made for you Nic.

Really? Even with dog walkers etc. already in place as I have? Probably just as well though cos I really shouldn't even think about another rescue just now  ::)

Go Rhona though!  :D

Ok back now.  Freya is right she is lovely.

There are a couple of issues which have been highlighted with regard to whether we are right for her and she us.  We are having a chat about it just now.

It is quite difficult because your main instinct is just to bring her home but their points are valid and do need consideration because I would be broken hearted to have to return her and obviously there may be a better home for her.

My update....

I phoned the rescue to go back with the kids and Sam and they have decided that we would not be right for Jess.

For you who know my Sam this does not need a big explanation.  He is lovely but can be slighty hysterical.  They think she would be better homed either as an only dog or with a calmer one.

If anyone is thinking about going to see her please go.  She is a lovely girl.  She needs work on her walking on lead but is soft and friendly and lovely bright little thing and I am a little bit gutted.

So sorry Rhona  :'(

I'm sure Sam's perfect friend is out there somewhere  :luv:

And I hope little Jess finds her forever home soon too  :luv:

:'( Oh No. I felt for sure a happy ending was just round the corner there.

That is such a shame but if she would not be right and happy then I guess its for the best. Keep looking, Sam perfect pal is out there just weaiting to meet him.

I hope Jess gets a home soon.  :luv:

Thank you Freya.  I really wished it had worked out differently but I could envisage the difficulties.

I will keep revisiting this thread because I really hope this little girl find a suitable forever home.

I had decided a while ago that I wanted another.  I don't have any special wish list (well I apart from I would like a cocker but not fussed about what type or colour) and I am not sure that I want a puppy so I will bide my time.

Ah Rhona I'm sorry (this makes more sense now)  A hard decision but for the right reasons I'm sure.  I'm sure she find a fantastic home and that you and your family, and of course Sam, will find the perfect companion to welcome in to your home too  :luv:

Sorry to hijak the thread but I'm with you on this Nicola. If they refuse a good owner just on the grounds that they work full time , even if arangements are in place, then it's ridiclious  ::)

Hope she finds her home soon  :D

Sorry to hear things didn't work out for all of you but I'm sure it won't be long before she finds a loving permanent home. I must admit I'm very tempted as it would be lovely for Jet to have a friend at home and it's great to have more than 1 dog - especially on walks!  but we are in Staffordshire. I'm sure you will find the perfect friend for Sam. Things always happen for a reason. Good luck to you all!!
