His not on the website and probably wont be going on there.. BDH don't always put every dog on there, which is a bit of a shame. Though I can vouch that he is there as I took him for a walk yesterday and he is a real handsome fella and a real charmer. He was dumped there by his last owners this week, typical story of can't cope with young family and active cocker. Though they dumped him there with ears full of knots and matted fur, which has now been sorted. His coat is immacul;ate though, really shiny and silky, he is quite beautiful.

Very tempted - and I know it sounds silly - but I've never had a male cocker, or male pets come to think of it. Even my horsed have been mares and the same with my cat. I've Only ever had girls in the past 20 years....If he was a girl I would;ve snapped him up... As an aside, I've reserved a puppy girl and and will be adopting a rescue girl too, when the right one comes along.

You should read the threat Dog or Bitch, it's making me tempted to get a male next time.

I had Ethel's mother and my sister owned Mackie - ethel's brother and my brother owned Hobie, Ethel's other brother. never been a long term owner of a boy cocker! Not sure I could...Don't know why, but it's just my feeling. My OH agrees. Strange but true.

It's a shame you feel like that Dorrit.  I am sure there are lots of lovely male rescue cockers out there crying out for a loving home.

I have boys, not through preference, just the way things have turned out  :-\ but if I was looking for a rescue, it would be based on the best dog suited to my circumstances, not what sex they are

Me too... tbh I prefer boys to girls but when Tilly came up in rescue I didn't hesitate, I didn't care what sex she was, she just needed a home and I wouldn't change her for the world, I adore her  :luv: :luv:

Just to let you all know my husband and I rehomed Louie the day after this note was originally posted and he is absolutely thriving in his new home.

He is such a happy little boy, and full of kisses and cuddles.  He's quite overweight so we are giving him a strict fitness plan of lots of fun and games and long walks - which he is loving!

Thanks to Dorrit for the tip off otherwise we wouldn't have known he was at Battersea - there were people in the queue behind us who had also come along specifically to see him so we feel very priviledged to have him, and I think it's fair to say he is pleased too as his tail hasn't stopped wagging since the moment we brought him home!

I can't understand why he was unwanted in the first place as he's just such a loving sweet lad, but hey ho, someone else's loss is most certainly our gain.

Sorry I can't upload any pics but let me assure you all he is GORGEOUS - as you may tell we are smitten!!!   :luv:
