my latest foster is liver and tan, he is fairly heavy set but not full show, is liver and tan a common show colour or working cocker?
-
think I may have discovered he's a worker, cos found liver and tan workers and they are chunkier than my lot
-
now freya, how can we comment without a picture.... :luv:
purleese....need full details too :shades:
-
Liver and tan isn't common in the show ring but it's quite common with some commercial breeding kennels who often mix show and working lines to get the colour. We definitely need a pic though :D

its a really sad story, he's only 5 months old and was sent to the vets to be PTS, he also spent 2 weeks in the vet hospital at 12 weeks old after suffering poisoning and nearly died and had a blood transfusion, cant put a pic up yet as he needs assessment etc and if anyone saw him they would want him in a heart beat - a very special boy
-
Oh how dreadful :'(
A liver & tan show type has been on my wish list for years......maybe one day.

Chloe's breeders have liver and tan and had a litter full of them not long ago :luv: If I remember rightly they were the first breeders to get the colour into Crufts! Gorgeous doggies!

That is a great photo, I got the feeling he might not be hanging around..
I don't think I would want to live in a pipeline either, what your looking for is a nice warm house with people that love cocker spaniels...

thats why we are going up for a visit today cos if I left it any later in the week he wouldnt be going anywhere, they dont have kids and have had rescue cockers and working cockers for years so he will be in the perfect home.

He is lovely, my dad is looking to take on a rescue working cocker, he would love him :luv:
I know off topic but what is the best way to go about hearing about any rescues, I registered my dads details with Nessr are there any others, or is it just a cased of checking out the different websites.
-
AARRRGGGGHHHH :'( :'( sorry but it don't look like he is missing you :shades:
:luv: :luv: It's great he has a fantastic new home - lovely pics :D

the home he has gone to had been on the NESSR books waiting for a cocker, they were based in Scotland, about an hour from me, and so when the wee man came in we knew we had a home waiting. Make sure you watch the NESSR forum and keep in contact with your local coordinator (dont know where your dad is based?)
Has he spoken to Cocker rescue as they have a working cocker coordinator?
-
Isnt that terrific :luv:

In the working strain the Liver is classed a chocolate. So this little boy would be chocolate and tan. Both parents have to carry the tan gene for it to appear in a litter.
The stud dog in the picture on page 1 of this post is called Breezybrook Trouper and he is such a lovely dog.

Sorry to go off topic, but I didn't realise this was the case - I always thought chocolate was a relatively recent term, used because it is fashionable and more saleable? I'm no expert, but would be interested if someone who knows better than me could let me know.
Back on topic, what a gorgeous dog, he looks really comfortable in his new home :luv:.

I dont think so, I think its liver :-\ Im sure the experts will confirm :D
-
I'm no expert but liver and tan for me although I have only recently been reeducated to that point! what the hell they are lovely anyway. However breezybrook troupers own breeder has him marked as chocolate and tan.

Yep I would agree - Liver and tan
-
TBH it really doesnt matter though, choc, liver brown, beige, tan, mouse's back :005: :005:
-
that good old liver or chocolate debate. I'm going for Nutella and caramel...
-
Definitely liver with any worker owners/breeders I've ever spoken to. Chocolate is a 'popular' term as it sounds nicer ::)
-
I am liking Nutella and tan, but hate marmite and tan!!You either love it or hate it ph34r :005:
