Pregnant Bitches
« on: May 16, 2005, 09:10:45 AM »
Hi all,
New here, thought I would find out what everyone's opinion on feeding pregnant bitches.

I have a pregnant bitch who is on 3 meals a day, but she is always starving, but after eating she gets very uncomfortable.

At the moment I would say she is the perfect "square" cocker, as she really is as wide as she is long :P

I would feed little and often so she doesn't get to bloated  :) Maybe cut the size of your portions down a little and split them into 4 or 5 smaller meals as she won't have much room left now and she'll feel more comfortable that way  :)

I agree with Gilly - smaller, more frequent meals are easier to digest for heavily pregnant bitches. I also give light meals towards the end like scrambled egg, tinned sardines etc as these are not so heavy on the tummy as a bowl of complete kibble.
