« on: August 16, 2008, 10:23:49 PM »

Just pulled  this http://www.canisclickertraining.com/newsletter/ from my college website it might be of interest to some if not all ;).
Just sign up and you get daily lessons for 7 days. Its good, basic but great for folks who are just learning.

I'm not at all wishing to spark another heavy debate and Mark I think you will be shocked and stunned at my post :005: but believe it or not i signed up to this!

Not being one to be easily beat and after having attended I now think a rather poor clicker training course and not being able to grasp the concept working with several dogs - I decided to give it another go along side the calming signals and techniques Sarah Jenkins showed me and I have to say it has been really good....!

I think by receiveing daily e-mails and small snippets at a time it has made the whole concept much easier to understand & transfer. My dogs I have to say on the whole are well behaved and I have always quite easily carried out basic training with them i.e. sit, down, stand, stay etc although from my previous post you will know i'm not into tricks or heavy obedience.... a lady that has one of our older dogs we re-homed recently commented on how well we had brought her up and she was a credit to us - so can't be doing too bad! Our main issues are with having several dogs together general over excitement which isn't fun when you have 5 going crazy at dinner time etc! Michele knows from our chats what a nightmare it can be ;)

I have to say by converting the use of the clicker to help deal with these kinds of behaviour has proved to be very successful so far - you never know Mark I might be converted yet :005:
