doing this? I am totally confused (and tired so not thinking straight either)

Ok fern would bang the water bowl when it was empty - great not a problem but ......................

since Rhum has been here she has started to bang at it even tho it is nearly full

I emptied it washed the bowl out and put fresh water down in the morning as I normally do and within half an hour she banged the bowl (yes Rhum had had a drink out of the bowl in that time )

Do you think she wants her own water bowl  she's never been fussy about sharing a water bowl with other dogs that come to stay or when we were away staying up north earlier this month

Thanks tired and confused

Could it be as simple as she's a bit jealous and it's an attention-seeking thing?  If it's always got you running to fill the bowl up, it's something she can do to distract you away from the little invader!

Does sound like an attention thing

However, will say that Misha won't drink out of the water bowls at flyball, but then I can't say I blame her as there is a boxer dog who does go and slobber in it.  She'll only drink out of her own bowl. At home she doesn't seem to mind sharing a bowl with Roly.

I had a cat that used to do that. When my other cat would just settle down on my lap for a cuddle, Charlie would go over to the food bowl and crunch REALLY loudly on a piece of kibble, while watching the other cat. Being rather gullible, Brian would fall for it every time and would go and have a look at the food bowl, while Charlie ran back and grabbed the warm spot on my lap!

At agility training when Taz has had a drink out of the communial bowl he will start "digging" in the bowl until there is no water left!  Do you think he is trying to get the others dehydrated so they are too tired to have a go!

Sorry to laugh  ph34r but Finn our Newfie pup loves to play splashing in his with his massive paw  >:D
He floods the place.  ::) Needless to say we are teaching him to leave it and have bought him a shell pool instead.  ;)
Does sound like Fern just wants a bit of attention now the pup is there.  :-\

Right well madam has gone from the water bowl thing now to not eating her food - well tough after 5 min it has been taken away and I would like to know if I should give it back to her at lunch time when he gets his next feed or should I just not feed her again until her normal feeding time?

What would you do

She's def not having it back till either lunch time or her normal tea time

OMG as I type she has just started play bowing and barking at him to play - looks like she is getting used to him  :005: (only day 3 so I am pleased to hear and see this  :D )

I'd be tempted to give it again at lunchtime - we often do this if Honey refuses her breakfast, and we aren't feeding another dog at that time...  :005:

Sounds like she's coming round to him, though!!  :D

Thanks yeah that's what i thought - but I'm soo blinking tired wasn't sure I was thinking straight  :embarassed:

Will offer her her breakfast again at lunch time and see if she'll eat it then too

I'm off now to take Fern out on her own for a walk - leaving Rhum here on his own and banning the kids from going to him until he is quiet  ;)
