« on: November 08, 2009, 08:04:28 PM »
I'm struggling to find the ultimate reward treat whilst clicker training Darcy.... I don't mean the everyday average treat I mean the serious WELL DONE/AMAZING treat....what do you find works?

Dylan and Jessie are both great foodies. Jessie likes dried doggy sausage, chicken and top treat cheese.   Dylan likes doggy sausage, doggy hot dogs and chicken.  :005:

Interesting thread topic, and one I've often thought of asking myself. With clicker training in the house, it doesn't matter what the reward treat is, Chloe just goes mad for the "click" and even a bit of bread or a hug does it for her! Outside, its a different matter; I use different things for recall training - livercake, hot-dog sausages, and roast chicken are her faves, but I can't always guarantee that either one of them will work, it seems to depend on her mood  >:( :005:

I have just remembered if you warm the hot dog sausage in the micro for a few seconds till its warm, it  makes them more smelly and they love it. :luv:

Honey is similar to Chloe - it really doesn't matter what the treat is when we are indoors... it's the knowing she's done the right thing that seems to motivate her.

As far as top treat goes - the only thing she will eat when there is a tennis ball about is dried sprats, so that would have to be the favourite treat!!!  :D

I use small cubes of cheese, frankfurters or cake made with tuna egg and flour for training Dennis.  I use small cubes so that he can eat them quickly on the move at Heel to Music training.

Saartjes top treat is cheese. I cut it in very small peaces. It smells very strong and Saartje will do anything for me when I show/smell here the cheese, she really goes crazy

Hope Karma doesn't mind me answering this one, as on the recent meet at Highcliffe she had some with her.  They are just literally tiny dried whole sprats, eyes included.  I had never seen or heard about them as treats before.

I have current success with frozen peas as a clicker training treat. She absolutely loves them - and fat free too!!
