The Andis AGC Two speed seems to be the most popular. At about £125 they cost more than some clippers but are solidly built, fairly quiet and relatively lightweight.

They come with a No.10 blade but, for a cocker, the purchase of an additional No.7 or 7FC blade would be an advantage.

Another recommendation for Andis 2 Speed. I've had mine for about 4 years and find them lighter and much easier to handle than the Oster Golden clippers I had previously.

I've just bought the Andis two speed with the extra 7FC blade. They have done a good job and quickly.
Can I just ask why this 7FC blade is also recommended?

I'm a groomer and would 100% recommend the andis clippers. They are alot lighter and comfier than alot of brands :) also very quiet compared to others!

Can I just ask why this 7FC blade is also recommended?

The 7FC (Fine Cut) doesn't cut as closely to the skin as the supplied No10 and also leaves a better finish on the coat. The No.10 leaves hair 1.6mm long while the no.7FC leaves it twice as long at 3.2mm.

Our Milly's fur gets quite curly so I sometimes use a No.7 Skip Tooth as well to get through really dense fur.

There's a downloadable chart available detailing all the blades and their uses here....https://www.andis.com/download/allBlades_chart.pdf

I used to use the Andis super 2 speed. Now I have the Heiniger Saphir cordless and if you have a bit more money spare I would highly recommend them. Quiter and lighter than the Andis and also cordless. ;) I do still think the Andis are a great clipper though and still have them as spares. Plus the Heiniger are more expensive, but I love them. :D
