Title: Recommended games/toys please!
Post by: **purpleprincess** on March 08, 2014, 04:14:33 PM
Hiya.

I just wanted to know what people's recommendations of games and toys were before I went and bought some. I mean the ones that take a bit if working out, like puzzles and things.

Thanks in advance!

Have you seen the Big Kong, the top unscrews and you put treats in and they need to tip it over to get a treat out.

I did get a wooden puzzle to hide treats in, the ones where they open a flap to win there prize, waste of money as it lasted all of 5 mins before Bea bit part of it off >:D

For soft toys the PAH tuffy range last longer than most :005:

We have the big kong , riley loves it , we put bits of kibble in and he has to knock it over till they fall out.
Also have the treat ball which we call football, he plays football now and it falls out ,
We also have the nina ottoson puzzle where you hide treats in the little boxes and the dog has to lift them up in order to get the treat.
Also play find the treat where riley will sniff and find where we have it hidden.

We have the treat ball  too. It keeps Bramble busy for ages. We were given some wooden toys to hide food under but I'm glad I didn't buy any. There is only a limited amount of time they can play with them before I get bored!

One of the things Ben used to love was find the treat. Use about four empty pots, like yoghurt pots that are not see through. Put a treat under one and then move them round. Ben only got the treat if he got the right pot first time. The concentration levels needed is amazing, Ben got really good and I could move the pots quite quickly and he nearly always got it right. Harry doesn't get it at all he just jumps on the pots to pinch the treat  :005:  Ben used to sit and watch then 'touch' the right one with his nose, he would play this for ages :luv:

Can't beat Kongs and treat balls for my lot!
Dexter particularly used to gobble his food so quickly it would make him sick.  We started feeding him in a treat ball and he was cured within a short time - so much so that he now needs encouraging to hurry up before one of the others pinch his dinner!!

Kongs filled with a mixture of carrots, cream cheese, a bit of kibble and a bit of peanut butter are also a great favourite here.
