Earlier in the week i came into the house to find Betsy had been sick several times and some of the sick had blood in it. I immediately called the vet and got an appointment for the evening. The vet said her gums were pale and felt her tummy and said he could feel some sort of blockage. He asked if Betsy ever ate socks or anything like that, which she doesn't.
Anyway she had an awful night crying and whimpering and just couldn't settle. :'( We had an appointment for the next morning to take her in, so they could put her on a drip, take xrays, blood tests and potentially operate. I dropped her off and waited for the call. When the vet rang he said that something had shown up on the xray and was i happy for him to go ahead and operate. Of course i said yes. When he opened her up he found a 3 inch piece of garden wood chipping :o :o I have no idea where she got it from, because it isnt something we have.
Betsy had to stay in overnight which was awful. The house felt really strange without her, but luckily she kept water and fluids down and could come home the following evening.
My beautiful girl is so sad and quiet. She doesn't even follow me into the kitchen at the moment. She is back to the vet tomorrow for a check up, so fingers crossed everything is ok.
Oh and the vets bill is up to £834!

Oh the poor thing! :embarassed: I hope she's back to herself soon Victoria - I'm sure she will be.

oh Betsy :'( :'( :'(
it's a horrible feeling when they are very poorly but i promise she will bounce back quicker than you ever expected :luv: :luv:
sending betsy gentle squidges, wishing her a speedy recovery, and I too accept the hefty price of my insurance now.... :005:

The first thing I did when we got Zack was get him insured. My last dog needed to have major back surgery it cost £900.00 we had just insured him a month earlier and they covered it. I think it gives you peace of mind.

Firstly, I hope Betsy gets better very soon. But your bill :o. I thought £350 for William was a lot (my horse's insurance was less than that), but now I'm glad we've got it.
-
Poor Betsy, I'm glad it was sorted quickly. :luv:
-
Get well soon Betsy... :luv:

Poor Betsy and poor you - what a shock! I hope she continues to recover quickly.
Having forked out £3,000 on Parker in under 3 months, I think good insurance (with the emphasis on the good!) is a must.
Gentle hugs all round :D

Kali says little healing licks to Betsy :-*

Thanks everyone. Betsy went for her check up this morning. They didnt try and take off the sticky dressing cover as they said it was well stuck and she would howl. After reading Sheryls post about Kali i was quite pleased they didnt! Anyway everything seems fine, no swelling or soreness and temperature is normal. So i am really pleased.
