Hiya

I changed our insurance from Direct line to Marks & Spencers for Amber as with M&S you can choose to have NO excess so you can claim everything back !!
(£127-00) per year i pay ........

Which is lucky as we had to take her to the emerg vet on Sat morning at 7.15 am as we thought she'd got something stuck in her throat ........ he thought she'd scratched it with something so 2 injections & '£78.00' later we went home.... have phoned M&S and they said they'll refund us the mney as soon as theyve recieved our forms !!

Hope this is of help to you

Love GaynXXXXXXXX

There are quite a few more threads for 'Pet Insurance'.  If you enter it into Search at the top of the screen you will find plenty of information.

PS....I'm with Marks & Spencer and they seem very good ;)

Tracee I use Petplan and bloomin' glad we are insured  ;) to quote petplan 'Unlike many policies with petplan lifetime policy there is no time limit on how long you can claim vets fees for each illness or injury no matter how ill your pet may become or how much you have claimed in the previous year'
tel no:08000727000 or www.petplan.co.uk
Best to get a few quotes to see whats best for you Good luck ;)

We had pet plan for our 2.
The premium started off at £9 (I think, it was under 10 anyway) per month per dog, we never made a claim and it eventually went up to £18 per dog per month, and the excess went up too to 75. This was only over 4 years! We cancelled it and pay the money into an account now. The money is there if we need it, but still earning interest if we dont!

we are insured with Animalcare - a lifetime policy up to £5000 a year.  The excess is £40.  I claimed last year for Brogan when he had his tear ducts dilated - I had a cheque within a week.  The policy has increased this year to £15 but the excess has remained the same.  Bailey is also insured with the same company.

Mine are with Petplan and managed to rack up nearly 3000 for Wilf before he was a year old and they paid up within 10 days (or some of the bills they paid direct to my vet)

I'm with the RSPCA. No complaints so far, but a bit more expensive as Tia has had eye problems and they are both older dogs.
Paid out quickly but £45 excess......

I changed from petplan which was over 20 pounds a dog to www.vet2pet.co.uk, which is just over 30 pounds for both of mine.  It's also covers the dog for lifetime illnesses and it seemed better all round then Petplan.  However I haven't had to claim against it so that might change it!!!

am with tesco's.  Kimmi costs £9.68 per month, and the excess is about £30.00

Havn't had to use them yet, but was recommended to go with them by the owner of Kimmi's mum

Me too! I never had insurance before I got Oscar but decided it was time! Thats after paying out (get this   ) £6000 (yes six thousand) over the 7 years of my old tomcats life. Scully currently costs us in the region of £500 per year in vets bills and she's not insured either

Oscar is on the basic Petplan insurance and I think (if I remember rightly) that I pay about £16.00 per month for him and they also gave me a years free membership to their PetLog database.

I went with Petplan because they are the company that my vets prefer to deal with.

I guess the price you pay also depends on your postcode, because I think my excess was more like £70 with pet plan and my monthly amount was definitely around £21... I guess it helps if you don't live in a city or near the south east

I was with more than when my old dog was diagnosed with AIHA and they were extremely good. Also if your dog died before their 11th birthday (and in Bonnies caes it was 3 weeks before) they would give you back what you paid for the dog in the first place, as long as you had proof.

Petplan do that too (although I don't know what the age limit is, or even if there is one?). They pay you back the full purchase price as long as the dog died from illness or accident. (But not an illness that you are supposed to have them vaccinated against).

M&S £14.36 a month and no excess. For us it worked out cheaper than Pet Plan but I think they all work on post codes.
(Jessica is 8 months)
