We rehomed a 15yr old spaniel cross about 10 yrs ago. my sister emigrated and as he was on heart medication he couldn't travel that far he was also deaf. He was lovely . Often when I came home at lunch time to let him out for a wee unless there was a draught from the front door he wouldn't wake up so I had to nudge his basket. luckily we had a large garden as he had no recall so was always on a long lead when we went out for a walk. The vet said let him go at his own pace which was slow unless he smelt a bitch on heat then he would be off like a rocket. Which came as a bit as a shock. He enjoyed live till he was 17. A grand old boy.

Thanks for putting his piccie up Ginnyb

Thats the thing about cockers - although he is 12 he may still have a good few years ahead of him.  As I said, nice happy retirement years.  So hope he can find his forever home soon.  Although I'm sure he's being spoilt rotten in his foster home.  ;)

He is the spitting image of my Charlie who is also 12y/o also with a heart problem.  Just wish I could make a pair.
