Title: Meeting Time And Place At Crufts
Post by: Mike on March 07, 2005, 03:22:37 PM: In this thread, nominate all your suggestions for a meeting time and place at Crufts - the one we decide on I'll add to the Crufts roll call list as I know a few of you are going to be printing that off :)

ps Dogpages members have already arranged their meet at 1pm, just to let you know so we don't clash.

Unfortunately Emily will be performing in the Special Events Ring at 11.05, so we won't be able to make this :( . We shall be mingling at the cocker ring when we can though. You will be able to spot Emily - little girl with long blonde hair and a "Safe and Sound" T-shirt on, accompanied by a frazzled and haggard-looking woman (we have to be at Crufts for 7.00am on Thursday and Saturday :blink: :o :rolleyes: )

Can you believe I'm being dragged out of my bed at 5am to get to be picked up at 6am....Sheri is soooo cruel. I will be asleep in the lounge by about 2pm. We leave at 6 in the morning and as Michael Schmaucher is driving, we should be there for 8.30am ready to queue no doubt.

I was at the Pedigree stand at 11 & hung about for about half an hour but didn't see anyone I recognised & definitely no-one that looked like COLers. I was especially looking out for Sue & Emily (Dunton 4) so I could watch Emily in the ring. I'm a bit disappointed that I missed you all but I did have a wonderful day at Crufts. It was my first time at Crufts and it exceeded all my expectations :D

Oh Vivienne, so sorry we missed you :( . Emily was performing in the Special Events Ring at 11.05, so we couldn't make the meeting time :( . Glad you had a good time at the show - wasn't it brilliant?! Emily had another performance at 2.05, so we didn't have much time around the breed rings, but we managed to say hello to Tilly's breeders and stroke their lovely dogs :D . We met a very kind and helpful lady on the Cocker stand at Discover Dogs, who gave me loads of grooming tips - thank you Judith I really appreciated it :D . Loved your Phoebe to bits :wub: .

We are back tomorrow for a performance at 10, again, in the Special Events Ring. I think Tracey and Chelsea are at Discover Dogs - are any other COLiners going to be there tomorrow?

Sue, I queued up for about 3 quarters of an hour to go in the special events ring because I thought Emily would have been in the Safe & Sound display at 2 o'clock, but there was absolutely no hope of getting in. The RAF dogs display started & there were still loads of people in front of me so I gave up :(

I still had a fantastic day though :)

Actually, it gets worse, I haven't admitted this to anyone yet, but I went to the wrong car park too. I thought I was parked on E3, so I got the bus to E3 & couldn't find my car, I was nearly in tears :( . I went to the pay booth to say that I couldn't find my car & that the car park looked different. A very kind car park attendant asked me for my ticket (which needless to say I couldn't find :o) & I was panicking by this stage, anyway, I found the ticket in the darkest depths of my rucksack only to find that it clearly said E5!. I then had to WALK from E3 to E5 :( .

I still had a fab day though, even though (or maybe because) I'm probably a total muppet :lol:

Oh dear, what a shame :( I've lost my car at the NEC before but I don't usually buy a car park ticket until I leave so had no way of clarifying the car park so just walked round and round for ages :rolleyes:

I was really disappointed not to meet any COL'ers yesterday. When the meet at the pedigree stand was on I was watching Georgie and Daisy's breeder in the ring, although from what has been said, knowing me, I would probably been in the wrong hall anyway !! :lol:

Unfortunately, until I got home, I did'nt realise the bench numbers were in the catalogue....duhhh :rolleyes: :ph34r: so did'nt know how to find those of you showing to come along and say hi. :blink: Wish I could have had the catalogue before the show and then I could have studied it properly. :blink:

I was'nt there for the full day, but even though I walked around for a while with my sweatshirt with piccys of Georgie and Daisy on it and large letters saying COL ANYONE ??? , did'nt get to see any of you. :( :) I did get to meet Tidge, which was nice, who was there on our get together with Georgie and Daisy's breeder Chris

Still I had a really lovely day and was so pleased to hear the excellent results. Hopefully next year I'll be a bit more organised !! :rolleyes: :lol:

I did see Sue (daftcockers) in the ring though, big well done for getting through to the final Sue, Sonny looked fantastic!!! :wub:

I also saw Michelle (Topaz Billy) and her daughter Megan too so least I found some COL'ers :P

The cockers at discover dogs were reeeeeeeeeeally popular, had to wait aaaaaaaaaaages to get a peek at the dogs, but they were worth waiting for they were stunning and I got some really helpful grooming tips from a lovely lady there too :D

Matt, the Blue Peter presenter was in the Special Events Ring before Emily's Safe and Sound, so she got his autograph and had a chat (he was really lovely with the children :D ). She also met Wellard, the dog from EastEnders that Matt did his agility with.

The ginger lad was a special guest star in the Safe and Sound Demonstration, but Emily was not impressed, she asked me "Who was that boy who didn't know what he was doing?" :lol: :lol:

Did see Sue (Daftcockers) in the ring and also spotted Tracey and Chelsea but they were busy so didn't get a chance to say hi.

Anyway, we had a great day. Took OH and the kids who thoroughly enjoyed it, although next year husband says I must take my sister instead :D

Managed to spend quite a bit but what on, I don't really know. Bought a diamante collar for my sister's greyhound and a couple of other bits, and some Burns dog food (going to be changing Scooby onto this). Nearly bought a pink pair of Hunter wellies but OH intervened :angry:

That's it now, every year I'll be there :)

Andrea - do please PM me when you read this and we'll chat about getting together soon - SORT OUT YOUR KEYBOARD!!! :lol:

We watched Tracey and Chelsea in action in the ring (well done!) and our breeder got a Third which was fantastic. We were also introduced to the breeder of Woody's father which was a lovely surprise. Took some nice photos which we need to download and share.

We managed to spend about £100 in all and came home laden with presents for Woody. Best investment of the day was a Turtle mat for our front door (goodbye to muddy pawprints!) and my favourite purchase of the day - a rubber chicken for Woody's birthday next month! What he'll make of that I don't know!!

Wonderful day, fantastic show and thoroughly enjoyed watching the highlights in the evening and Best In Show on Sunday ... sobbing my eyes out over the Hero Dogs and wondering, as I do every year, why on earth people would choose to own a toy dog .....!

Can't wait until next year.

Douglas was shattered when we got back to the car Saturday night but came alive again when we got back to my friends house as her 8 month old puppy wanted to play, and of course Douglas was only too pleased to oblige, just a shame he didn't put that much effort into his Showing :angry: ;)

I bought some new thinning scissors at last and a slicker brush (along with a few other bits). Lottie has always hated the slicker and so I've never used one. I bought the tendercare one. Can't say she's impressed with this one either but I'm putting my foot down, she'll just have to get used to it :D

Ah thanks Mary I think he is a very special dog :D as he is so friendly to everybody :D (but that is Cockers for you isn't it). He makes everybody feel special when he says hello to them :D (well that's what I think but I am bias). He really seemed to like your girls. Just shows you that Cocker Boys are very very loving :D :)

I think we all had a bit of a Gache Overload at Crufts ;) Although I did have a takeaway at around 9pm ;)

Hopefully it won't be too long before we meet up again.
