The Best Pet Insurance!
« on: April 28, 2005, 12:32:46 PM »
<_< We're picking Pebbles up at the end of May and want to make sure that he's well covered with insurance. I know that the insurance game is a minefield and that it's important to get the right amount of cover, not just in terms of total value but for the full duration of any illness, not just for 12 months.
Can anybody advise on who to go to? Any good or bad experiences? I've been told Petplan are very good - does anybody agree or disagree?<_<

Many thanks

I've just done what I should have done in the first place and done a search of the site. I've found some excellent advice on insurance which led me to look at M&S - on face value this looks excellent. I've sent off for details but the cover looks superb. Anybody got any experience of them?

Many thanks
John, Jane, Tom and Katie

Hi John

Don't rush into this. You should get 6 weeks free insurance with the Kennel Club so you have plenty of time to make up your mind.

PetPlan are considered by many to be one of the best, but they're also one of the dearest.

We have Buddy with Sainsburys insurance, which many people on COL recommended, and gave a reasonable level of cover for a reasonable price.

We've not had to claim yet, but their paperwork did come through nice and smoothly. You also get a discount for buying online and/or for paying using a Sainsburys credit card.

Cheers

Steve

I'm also with m and s. I've not had to claim as yet so don't  have any experience with them paying out ok. They made a cock up with the paper work, it just didn't arrive, so had to do a bit of nagging :P  it came 8 weeks after I first applied.

I use Petplan, mainly because that is what I use for Goldie and just continued with Lottie. There wasn't as much choice around 10 years ago when we got Goldie.
They have always been very prompt with payments but are quite pricey.

I work in a vets, and the ones that are slowest payers and finicky, seem to be petplan more often than not. More than and M&S are good and fast.

I use Petplan for Oscar (about £16 per month for my region for a labrador). I'd have no qualms about praising them as they've been good to us so far.

M&S here too.  Fingers crossed I haven't had to claim so far so cannot give feedback on that issue ;) Premiums and policy excellent though.

I was with M&S - excellent cover and paid out a substantial amount no problem at all  :D   I'm sure that you have read already that you really should try and ensure that the insurance you get is 'life cover'.

:P Im with Lloyds TSB and mines about £9 per month and they are really good, have paid out really quickly with Baileys ears and are very happy to deal with the vet direct, which is so much easier. :P  :D

I just want to say M&S were fantastic when I rang them up, I have got both my 2 covered fro less then £30.00 a mth and with no excess and up to £7,000 veterinary fees.

It was all done in one phone call in less then 10 minutes!
