Claiming with Axa Insurance
« on: February 22, 2013, 01:07:04 PM »
Has anyone had any experience of claiming vet treatment with Axa?

I have just called to get a claim form (Henry's recent campylobacter diagnosis and treatment) and I had to leave a message with my details, so don't have any confidence that they'll actually send me the form. Was nice back in the days when you could actually speak to someone (and it's not as if they're cheap!). Also, all the links from the confirmation email I got when I took the policy out are now defunct!

Would be interested to know how long it took to get the claim form and then payment and if there was any trouble with the claim.
Thanks!

I have made claims through Axa and they were pretty good. I had numerous claims for ongoing treatment for Bobby when he was a pup and got cheques for most of them within a couple of weeks. They did miss one of them due to an 'admin error' but when I called I got that too. Don't worry about leaving a message - it should be fine :)

We made a claim a few weeks back and the form arrived a few days after I left the message. Left the form with our vet to complete and submit and received a cheque back a couple of weeks later  :D
No problems!

They have an online claims form, but I think you need to log in for it.

We've used RSPCA insurance several times, which is underwritten by AXA, and I had to leave my details on an answerphone. The forms did arrive each time, no problems, and they paid out without any issues.

Well, haven't received the first claim form yet, 2 weeks on!

Just phoned again, need one for the eye treatment now. Hopefully I'll get something this time. Not impressed so far.

Thats rubbish Sophie, After I posted last night I saw the date and presumed it was all taken care of for Henrys first illnesses
Not good.
I also rang John Lewis today for a claim form. Cant believe the vets charges.

AXA are no longer the underwriters for John Lewis who have changed to Royal Sun Alliance.  I have just had my claim split between the two insurance companies and am awaiting AXA's portion.

Just phoned Axa - no record of any of the messages I've left asking for claim forms! Fortunately you can actually speak to someone - ring the customer services number, NOT the claims number. Not very impressed so far!

Got the cheque today (so they paid out quickly, at least) - £455! That means the vet bills for a couple of poo tests and an eye problem (corneal ulcer) were £605 (£75 excess for each problem)! Wow! So my pet insurance has paid off this year already (within 6 months). Hopefully Henry will be a bit more healthy in future.

Presumably my insurance will go up next year as a result, which seems a little wrong to me...

I was quite surprised when we claimed for Ruby, it didn't go up much at all. But that was 5 years ago, maybe nowadays it will!
