Class ideas for fun dog show please
« on: July 15, 2013, 07:54:31 PM »
I've been asked to judge a fun dog show on 18th August and I've also been asked to suggest up to 10 classes that I'd like to judge.

I've come up with the obvious -

Puppy under 12 months old
Most handsome dog over 12 months old
Prettiest bitch over 12 months old
Golden oldie dog or bitch, 8 years old or over
Prettiest eyes
Waggiest tail
Dog most like it's owner
Consolation class for those that haven't won a rosette in previous classes

Any more ideas please? No child handler classes though. I've watched them at too many fun shows and seen kids being dragged round the ring by boisterous dogs, kids dragging their fashion accessory small dogs around with no regard for the dog's neck and bratty kids throwing tantrums (not to mention pushy parents) :005:. I know there would be some competent and kind handlers too, but probably not many at a fun show and I'd be wanting to strangle the hopeless and heedless ones ph34r

Best trick is a good one.  What about fastest sit/down?  We did this at a show at the weekend.  Dogs had to sit when the judge clapped.

Dog the judge would most like to take home.

Thank you, some excellent ideas :D

I might stick to the easier ones as the show is part of a big event at a big showground so I think there will be loads of entries and big classes unless the weather is bad. I have visions of masses of dogs in a small ring all having arguments over the biscuit catching :005:. Shame, as that would be a fun one to judge if I could be sure there wouldn't be many entries.
