help! what should I wear for open show?

Silly question I know! Rufus has his very first open show next weekend, not expecting much from him bu as long as he has a positive experience then I'll be happy, but what is exceptable for me to wear? Would it be frowned upon if I wear jeans or would smart trousers and top be better? Thanks

Hi Good luck on your first show.

You see people in all sorts of clothes but rarely jeans and more often something smart casual or even a jacket. Maybe a bit hot for that though!

At your first show it's equally important you feel comfortable so something smart casual which you feel comfortable in and won't distract your dog would be a good choice. I wore some baggy trousers to ring craft once and my puppy was obsessed with them in a let's play with these new toys on Mum's leg way. Didn't wear those to show again!!

Thanks, will go for comfortable, so depending on the weather it'll be linen trousers or jeans. Just waiting for his snood to arrive as his ears are minging within 2 minutes of being brushed! I bought a show lead last week but couldn't get on with at ring craft (felt like I was holding onto a piece of cotton with a dog dangling on the end ) so somebody is lending me another one to try. He's well overdue for a bath and tidy up so that's all booked for friday. Very ecxited but very very nervous too!

Smart Jeans will be fine, a pocket on them is handy for poo bag & tip bit as well. I like too see shoes or trainer shoes, flipp flops can distract your dog & others in the class, has your open show got wet weather rings if not a light weight coat may be needed aswell. Above all enjoy yourself & gd luck x

Thanks for the tip about Flip Flops as I was going to wear mine, hadn't thought about them distracting other dogs!

Hmmm, wonder if I can get a matching mankini for Rufus that would match his black sparkly snood? That way he wouldn't be subjected to the indignity of having to wear a tiara

I was so nervous about our first show,  until I  realized  than actually no one (except some other cocker owners)  was watching.
