2nd year
« on: August 23, 2013, 04:55:20 PM »
I am with Pet Plan and we've just got our renewal in. It's gone up £2.76 per month was £25. Not sure if this is in line line with others but I'd love to know anybody's 2nd year. Thankfully we've never needed it for the first year with only one visit to the vet that cost us but it was way below the £90 excess.

We are with John Lewis and it has gone up by £1 to £13 for lifetime cover up to £7000 per year. Staying with them for now  :D

Wow, thats a huge difference. So I've checked and got a quote and better cover for Harry with JL comes in at £15 a bit more than you but £12+ cheaper than with Pet Pan and the excess with JL is only £60 as opposed to £90 with PP.

No brainer, changing on Monday

Have you had a look on any of the price comparison sites? GoCompare or Comparethemarket are a couple. I've been getting prices to insure Stanley and Petplan are by far the most expensive...I pay less to insure my house than your renewal price!

Ozzy is insured with Petplan and his has gone up just a few pounds for his second year. We made a big claim when he was just 4 months old and had to have his left eye removed, so we were pleased with the renewal fee.  I know it's more expensive than a lot of companies but, having had experience with our last dog who had epilepsy, and who's drugs alone cost twice as much as the premium per month even in the beginning, and a whopping £200 a month for the last year or so of her life, let alone the regular blood tests and specialist investigations.  Petplan paid every claim without a quibble, and would have continued to pay up had she not had to be PTS after an accident at 5 years old.  We feel that the proof of how good an insurance company is is not in the lowness of their premiums, but in what happens when you make a claim, and will be sticking with Petplan even though we've had quotes that are much cheaper.

Ironically John Lewis came in dearer on GoCompare rather than direct. I am not really a fan of the comparison sites

Charlies is £17 something (it's the low end of £17). We are with John Lewis; I'm sure there will be cheaper ones for us, however, I went with them for their longer term benefits.
My beautiful little boy Charlie :)

My John Lewis insurance has gone up £10 per month (and thats with discount as I work for John Lewis) funny how that is the exact
amount I claimed for last year. In fact if I had put my payment away last year I would be £50 in profit now!!!

Just got my renewal notice from Axa today - they are asking £2,283 for the year!!!!! £190 PER MONTH, up from £27 per month. For a 16-month old dog.
I am totally gob-smacked. I've claimed for about £800 in total this year. Irritatingly Henry's cataract needs another check-up, due a couple of weeks after the policy is up for renewal, so will call tomorrow to see if they can fit him in before it's due for renewal, so that the £190 for the appointment is covered.

I am absolutely gob-smacked and shocked and also really irritated. Obviously I will be changing providers, but now his eye condition won't be covered by anyone else. The reason I went with Axa in the first place was to cover lifetime conditions and now I've been scr*wed!

Anyone else had this experience? I'll also add this to the Axa thread.
