Can anyone give me an advice on what colour show lead would be most suitable for a red cocker.

I have a selection of colours I use on Bryony, a red cocker. Brown, cream, gold and red. Depends a lot on the shade of red your cocker is. Try a few colours and see which you like best.

I was going to do a similar post myself - thanks Sarah ;D I have another show on Sunday(glutton for punishment or what ;)) and will be entering both boys :- What colour lead should I get for Vegas who is a heavily marked orange roan? And should I stay clear of a red lead for Dallas who is black(Im sure I heard that this colour breaks up the dog or something like that ???).
Dallas ( 10) & Disney ( 9 )

Hi Gill, good luck for Sunday :)
I would use a white or cream for Vegas. 8)
I tend to stick to a black lead on black cockers as I don't like anything to spoil the look of their necks. If you place the lead well back on the shoulders when you stand them, you can avoid a choppy look. That said I do think Red is Very Nice on a black :)

Thanks for all the answers.
I better bring her the day I buy it then.. She's still a pup, so I don't know whether she is going to be dark red or golden, but I'm entering her to an open show late august so I have to figure out something.

As for your black Dallas Gill, I was having the same thoughts. I use a black lead for my black girl, but I was planning on buying a new colour for her cause I thought black was a bit too conservative  ::). Thanks for telling me it's fine.. ;D
I was thinking of buying her a  green lead cause she's entering working class  ;D. Don't know if you have such a class in the UK.

Hi

Personal I like to use a colour that is not the same as the  colour of the dog, like a black lead to a black dog.
Normally when I stand the dog, I do take the lead of, but if I have a dog with a short or a long neck, it is amazing what a coloured lead can do to make the neck look longer or shorter, placed at the right place. ;)

I agree with you Nina, it can make all the difference if placed properly, get it wrong and it looks awful though  :o

I chop & change as the mood takes me with Otis 8)  & Neneh, sometimes a matching black lead or a contrasting red one. It also depends on what colour I'm wearing, as red could clash :-X

I think a nice jade green lead looks good on a golden/red

Following this on a little bit... and because I am so indecisive and full of questions  ;D  ;D
any thoughts on what colour would be best for Millie? in the pictures on here she is a lot darker than she is now (ahh the joys of rubber gloves!!  ;) ) her neck is very mottled .. and I was thinking of a black or red show lead - any thoughts out there? atm shes wearing a green and yellow crufts collar (posh paws isn't she?) and it looks nice, but I'm not sure ... and when she wears blue people think shes a boy  >:(        can you get purple ones?

Also what kind is best (are they leather or nylon/cord?) where online can I get them??

So many questions ....  ::)  ???  ;D

hi again  :)

hunted back through the posts and have managed to get onto Hub Internationals website ... OMG!!!  :o  :o  :o
please will someone tell me what I need to buy ??  ???  ::) there's so much choice! I don't really want to spend much more than £15 (is that too cheap??) and ideally I'd like it for Saturday, but if not its no big problem - I am hopeless at this kind of stuff  :(  :-[

Hi Kelly, I ordered two leads from Hub a week ago(still waiting on them!) and the ones I got were the resco cordo-hyde loop lead(resco 3800) at 5.80 each. Im not sure they are the right ones as there isnt a picture so I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.
