2 Days to P - Day - Irish Pet Insurance
« on: April 24, 2007, 09:19:52 AM »
Apologies Admin if the insurance query is in the wrong place...
With 2 days to P Day I think we have most things sorted out (including food - thanks to the person who reminded me about that!)
Very exciting times but I want to make sure I have practicalities covered too - has anyone had experience of Pet Insurance in the Irish Market (M&S not valid here).
We're going to the vets on P-Day +1, so should I speak to them about what they recommend or are they often on comission to sell one or the other?
I;ve had aone quote of €32 a month (about 20 sterling) - not sure if that's competitive or not?

Any advice welcome - I'm not sure if you can put company names on here, so feel free to PM me

Thanks

Jim

We're with Halifax, but I don't know if they insure in Ireland.  :-\

I did as Jann suggests and googled for the best policy for me.

I actually meant the search box on COL to look at other people's experiences with different companies, ;)  but also Rhona's suggestion is good if you know what you want from a policy ;)

Ooops. Now I've read it again, I can see that.  :embarassed: And apologies for spelling your name wrong too.  :D

Just as a quick comparison Jim, we pay around £12 a month per dog, which gives us £6000 a year in vets fees, but does have a £50 excess for each claim.

Vets can no longer recommend one policy over another but I'm sure they can say if some are better at dealing with claims than others  ;)
