Thanks Hovis, yes i sure was, i was grinning from ear to ear...i was just so surprised!

Well done - we were there but in the companion ring with Suki cos Harriet is too young!
The classes were all big, so even bigger well done

  Awwww. I think because we went without any expectations and the judge seemed to really like her too which was great. She asked if we had shown before and i was honest and said that no this was our first show. She congratulated us after presenting her rosette and told me that we'd done well. It's funny though as after we had done our trianglulr walk and joined the end of the queue i could feel my heart in my throat.....VIncent thought we hadn't been placed and was just as pleasently surprised!
I've just entered her in to another open show local to us. I think it's the Beckenham and district, just to give us a taste of what to expect at some cocker shows next year. It's really exciting though

Ladies Kennel Association, championship show, held at the NEC.
Is on Friday the 12th December for gundogs, give it a go, you have got some time to get in some practice!!

I've started another thread on this board because i'm uncertain about the difference between open & champ shows. I always had the impression that unless you had won so many open shows you could then enter championship shows. Maybe you could enlighten me as i don't really understand it like i thought?

Ooo i forgot to say in the gundog on sat we were up against a toller who i think came 3rd....I didn't catch her name, youngish girl with long dark hair in ponytail with toller t-shirt she said she knew you, was really weird.... such a small world!

Championship shows are more formal and you can qualify for Crufts:
As we have stud book band E dogs to qualify you need to get a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd at a championship show in certain classes, of which Junior is one. as LKA is late if you placed in your class you will have time to get your entry into Crufts too.

The other thing is this is how you get a ShCh prefix, to do this you need to get Best of Breed, Best of Sex, earn yourself a .challenge certificate (CC) three of these and you have got yourself a show champion. I haven't got one yet but you need to have a goal don't you!!

For you it is the crufts qualification you would be after. There are other aspects to Ch shows like stud book numbers but these don't come until the dogs get a bit older really.
Both are good fun, the Ch shows are more for the adrenaline junkie IMO!!

Toller girl was Hazel, she said that she had seen a small black Cocker win!! didn't click sorry.
