Kennel Club insurance question?
« on: September 25, 2009, 02:19:46 PM »
My breeders insurance runs out 02/10/2009 and then I'm entitled to 6 weeks of KC insurance free. I'm onto sorting out my own insurance but wont be covered for the first 14 days so want to take advantage of more free insurance whilst whoever I choose to go with clicks in. But as I go into the 6 weeks free website it's prompting me to pay for a year after the 6 weeks expires (£26.95 pm!) I don't want to do this but don't see a way around it! Do I need to register and cancel with my bank before they take a premium???  Or am I also exempt for the first 14 days with the KC?? In which case I may as well not bother!

MY two are insured with the KC.  Glad we have carried on with Dylan's cover, as we will be claiming for him to see an eye specialist. If he does have to have an op at least we have a substantial amount of cover.  It's something to bear in mind when taking out cover to have a realistic amount when you look at the care and treatment they can do now.

I've taken advantage of the free insurance - however, when I signed up it was 2 months free, rather than the six weeks via the breeder.  I noticed that the offer was for two months just before I registered for six weeks?

That aside, the monthly premium quoted was just over £26 per month if I choose to stay with the KC - which isn't the cheaper end of the market or as expensive as say Pet Plan.  BUT not only is there the usual excess, but the policy holder also has to pay 10% of any claims!!  I won't be staying with the KC - I feel that £26 per month puts the KC in the overpriced bracket when they will only settle 90% of the claim after the excess.
