sharp response to the whistle
« on: May 03, 2010, 05:14:45 PM »
I'm whistle training Ollie at the moment and when he's in a wait and I call him with the whistle sometimes he comes at full pelt and at other times its a slow meander. Any ideas how to get the sharp response each time? Should I maybe only treat when he does a quick response for example?

I have two so i race them for the quickest resonce  :005:

Yea id only treat the fastest of responces. If he doesnt respond fast enough send him back out and try it again. Keep repeating till you get a good one and then give a huge jack pot treat

If your not looking for anything formal you could try speeding him up by throwing the treat behind, you but this wont help you if your looking for a formal recall as strictly speaking the dogs running past you and not to you
