oh Dom :bigarmhug:

You've put him through this because it's his best chance at a long happy and healthy life - that's what owners that love their dogs do - don't beat yourself up, you couldn't have known the extent of his hip problems.

Hoping that he a bit more comfortable tomorrow and with each day that follows.  Tying his legs together is really hard on him and you but if it works, hallelujah.

I think lots of dogs get really angsty about dogs that have had operations - it could be all the strange smells and the wound or even the after effects of the GA on the patient as it really does turn them into different dogs for 24 hours or so.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit easier - keep us posted xxxx

Thanks everyone. You are all right as normal  :D he is happy for the dogs to be near the crate now. I had a panic as there is a pack of 10 here, my housemate has agreed to overnight overtime with work before we realised that this would be happening this week so I had no idea how to manage. Jacob is trying to lick his knee and remove the hobble (the tie) so comfy collar is on.

Has anyone else used a comfy collar before? Are they okay to leave the dog alone with on?

He is doing a wee every second time he gets taken outside, so thats brill

Some pictures from last night

Poor little boy, but the first couple of days will soon pass. When my Penny was spayed for medical reasons I did wonder what I had done because her recovery was less than perfect but now she is fine and I'm sure that once recovered Jacob will be in a much better position to enjoy his life too. :luv:

Poor Jabob he must be so upset and confused if only they could understand why this is happening to him  :'( Its going to be a difficult time for you both, sending ((((HUGS))))

Hoping with each day he starts to feel better  :luv: he is going to feel very vulnerable at the moment as he can't stand so bound to be grumpy and probably scared.

It must be so hard for you but Jacob is very lucky he has you to care and love him so much  :luv:

Thanks Helen  :D

Jacob has been asleep since breakfast, he quickly woke up for lunch and a quick wee but thats it. He seems to be more uncomfortable today and is crying a little when I am picking him up to take him outside. Am thinking it might just be the post-op pain/stiffness but if it continues I will the vets to just check

Poor Jacob - that sounds like it's going to be a tough few weeks for the both of you  :'(

Will his leg always be susceptible to fracturing or is it just in the next 4 weeks?

Sorry, I didn't spot this. From what the vet said, it is just the next 4 weeks. The bone will grow around the implant and become stronger again. Its currently weak so hence the chance of the break
