Does neutering not make any difference?
« on: November 10, 2011, 07:19:05 AM »
Had renewal through from Petplan for Tia (Lifecover).

It has risen from £37.19 to £42.49 p m

I rang them about the renewal because she had literally been spayed just a few days before the renewal came through, thinking it might bring it down a fraction, was told it made no difference and there was no an option on the system to enter in that a dog had been neutered

I really though it would make a difference her being spayed  >:(

Got a quote for 8 week old Jake at the same time and they have quoted £83.20 pm for the both so his is £40.77.

I'm going to shop around anyhow (Jake has free breeder insurance still and Tia's renewal due 19th) should I expect them to take into account that Tia has been spayed?

Any tips greatly appreciated  ;)

Thanks Charlene, read that one, I'm currently trawling through the posts on this board, just perplexed about the neutering  ;)

I only recently let my insurers know that both of my dogs had been neutered, my Tia was speyed before I got her, and Dougie was done over 18 months ago, but I hadn't thought to let them know. It didn't make any difference for Tia, but Dougie's policy was reduced by about £2 per month - the boy on the end of the phone couldn't explain why. :P

The neutering of a male tends to make a difference in the cost - they probably think that all entire males are walking about attacking each other therefore neutered males will be less of a risk.
