My way, I keep puppy wipes & a towel in the car, give a good rub with these, then much to her disgust I put her into a small human fleece (from a charity shop ; with the arms cut short) , back to front & zip her in, also I give her a biscuit bone to make it less unpleasant, by the time we get home she is a lot drier. Personally I don't bath very often, I'm of the school who think it kills off the natural oils, when she is dry a nice brush. If her paws or ear ends are very muddy they are dipped into tepid water. You could do the same at home, or another way at home is to give a treat that keeps her quite for a while, on an old towel in the kitchen, the towel helps to dry her underside. I admit in the summer, yes I use a GENTLE hose pipe with a spray nozzle.
