Hello From Suffolk
« on: January 08, 2014, 11:06:37 AM »
My name is Zoe, and this is my 13 month old Cocker Bella. She is the first Cocker that I’ve owned, although I have had dogs for many years, and bred Parson Russell Terriers until 2012. We also have a Collie x Staff that came from a rescue centre as “unmanageable” (she has been with us for 8 years now).

We live on a farm, surrounded by thousands of acres of prime walking land, and as well as the dogs we also have horses and cats. I breed and show Persian cats under my Willowpaws prefix.  I’d love to show my Cocker, but have no experience whatsoever with dog showing. I did join a local ringcraft group, but unfortunately the teaching is a bit hit and miss, and we never seemed to gain a great deal from it. We are now starting agility with her (my Collie x already does this) but I still hope to do some showing if I can find a suitable group/some help locally.

I guess I will be looking for some help/pointers for showing/show training and grooming. I have hand stripped/groomed Bella a few times, but having no experience, I’d really love to find a local groomer/Cocker breeder who could help and guide me. Unfortunately Bella’s breeder lives about 2 hours away so although she has been very supportive, I can’t exactly pop round.

Quick piccie of Bella with one of our Persian kittens!

Hi Zoe,

Belated welcome to COL - Bella is  :luv: as is the kitten in the photo.......

Pearl and I often get over to Suffolk to see a close friend in Great Livermere - next trip is 7th Feb but it's only for a couple of hours [on the way back from Clacton!] - lovely part of the country with fantastic walks for cocker spaniels  :D
