Cocker puppy's first season
« on: July 10, 2013, 10:53:01 AM »
Hi I'd like some advice I've a working cocker spaniel ten months old, settled well, keen to learn, and happy with big sister ( red fell terrier) and brother (jack  russell). Advice says first season says six to eight months, if she's had it I've missed it, she did for through a fastidious cleaning of her 'lady parts'. Would appreciate some advice, as I've never had a cocker from puppy, always rescue, fantastic loving and busy little dogs, ant information greatly appreciated, many thanks.

I'm surprised the advice you have been given suggests that the first season is between 6 and 8 months.  Generally the guide is between 8 and 12 months, but obviously for some bitches it will be after this, some before.

My Molly had her first season at 11 months.

25 months here, even had lots of tests done at the vet as I thought she was infertile, but her seasons followed every 12 months.
