Results have came back and as suspected Erin does have chronic kidney disease as well as chronic pancreatitis. Her urea levels are very high...protein in urine high and specific gravity low. That and the specific blood test makes the diagnosis conclusive. Vet has asked us to take her in on Friday to get blood pressure monitored over a period of time . Have been doing some reading and now believe that high blood pressure might be the cause of her now being blind in 1 eye rather than age as thought.
She continues to be sick on occasions but is now being discreet and goes out to the garden.
I have shed a few tears today as I know in my heart that I have to make decision about what is best for her and not me but I have to see Vet for further discussion about long term treatment before I can do that...I just want to do what is best for my girl.

It's a horrible position to be in, but after you chat with the vet you should have a better idea of what the future holds. At least Erin is just living "in the moment", and has no idea, so just enjoy the time you have with her, and hopefully it will be longer than you think x

So sorry to hear about Erin. Words never seem adequate in these situations, those of us who have been there, know exactly what you're going through. All the best for you and Erin, treasure the time you have left and try not to spoil it by thinking too much of tomorrow.... :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug:

Thank you everyone....I really do appreciate it. I know I have to face facts that my girl is deteriorating...and rather quickly too but I have to wait until Friday to see what vet has to say.If she has a fighting chance you can bet your boots that I will do whatever it takes , but think it hit home today and hit me hard. We took Erin to the groomers as she was a bit whiffy and rather than bounce in as she normally would she lay on grass outside and refused to move. When we did get her in she went and lay down by the counter rather than spread the love with her usual cocker kisses. Both the girls in the shop were in tears as they saw the huge difference in her from a few weeks ago. She was groomed in stages as they tucked her up in bed for a wee hour in between as she was quite tired. When she left them they were both in tears as I believe they don't think she will be back....and sadly I think they may be right.
Tonight she is quite bright...has had a roll about the floor and as usual demolished her dinner in a nano second.
It really is a roller coaster at the moment x
