Title: Chewed his Foot
Post by: AndyB on August 29, 2016, 07:53:34 PM
After praising Jazz so highly for not investigating his wound following his recent operation, he has now created a problem by licking and chewing at one of the pads on his front right paw.   I am quite convinced there was nothing wrong with it before he created the problem.  I trimmed him all over only a week ago before his surgery so definitely no knots or hard lumps of compacted mud which can sometimes cause them to investigate.  An area of the pad now looks swollen and red and he is currently wearing a micropore dressing underneath his foot and a baby sock taped onto his leg.   I despair of him, just as he was recovering from the surgery and ready for walks he is now limping and looking very sorry for himself.

Anyone else got a foot chewer who can offer advice.

I have heard that dog licking it's foot is a sign of stress and lick the feet as a soothing action. He's maybe doing this because he can't get to the real wound that needs soothing.
