I've not been here for quite some time now but hoping that someone may have experienced the same thing. Bronte my 7 yr old collapsed in January, it was the most frightening thing I had seen as I believed she was about to die in front of me. She started choking for no apparent reason after returning to kitchen after last piddles at night. I heard choking noises, rushed over, her mouth was wide open and I could see nothing but sweeped her mouth anyway. She didn't paw her mouth at all but it looked like she was choking, she then started to collapse and turn blue, she became limp and at that point I thought she was gasping her last breathes. I attempted heimlich and was frantic. Her eyes looked distant but then very smalls signs of life happened, she came round, appeared slightly confused and ws back to near normal within 30mins. We took her to vet I said it started like a choking but ended up looking like she was coming round from a seizure. I hadn't ever seen anything like this before. She decided it was a choking probably due to an allergy. All was well then 4 wks later it happened again. Exactly the same scenario, right after piddle times, this time she collapsed at back door. I gave anti histamine but she had recovered as previously. We watched her like a hawk. Then it happened again on Tuesday evening, practically another month later. This time she had collapsed on patio, hubby said she was grey this time but she came round again. I took her to vets yesterday as it needs investigating further. I'm not convinced its allergies. Vet couldn't make sense of it and still things its a choking. She is booked in for investigations under GA next wednesday. He did however mention something he had recently read about called entrapped epiglottis and when I got home I read about it and it does seem to fit the symptoms. Has anyone had problems with entrapped epiglottis, laryngeal spasm or problems associated with elongated soft palate. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. x
