6am Bronte had what I would call a typical seizure, lasted a few minutes, jerking body and legs, did not turn blue and was confused once she came round for a good 30 - 40 mins. This specialist apt can't come too soon. She also has a smell om her breath that I recognise but can't identify atm.

oh god Karen how terrifying.

from what I've read there are 2 general types of smell that can be present during a seizure - one is a sweet fruity smell usually associated with diabetes but can be associated to epilepsy,  and the other is the smell of urea (which is bile really).

Hope the specialist can sort her out pronto x

No advice, but I do hope the specialist can come up with some answers and can help Bronte.

I can't imagine how frightening this must be for you.  Hope with all my heart that the specialist has the answer to stop this happening again.

Thinking of you.

This is such an ordeal.  I vaguely recall that the diabetes smell is like pear drops.  I hope the vet gets some result for you,  the symptoms are dramatic.  Best wishes to you

Thank you everyone, it's a real worry, I'm on pins atm, I'm frightened to leave her, even last night I thought she was sleeping too deeply and wanted to go to emergency vets, but hubby says it is likely to flatten her. Turns out she was ok, but I woke every hour to check her as she lay on our bed. Monday can't come soon enough. Thankfully she is insured and M&S have agreed already to pay out so that is one less worry. But I have a uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach atm about her health which I can't shake off, will need meds myself by Monday!

Really hope you can get a diagnosis. Don't despair- my little crossbreed has petite mal seizures but they're easily controlled. I really understand your sense of fear - we all get it when a beloved dog is involved - but it doesn't always mean the worst. Fingers still crossed for her and you.

Thank you everyone, she has been ok since but is doing a lot of sleeping. I've been on pins, still am just waiting for next episode but she is happy because she gets to sleep with us in the meantime.

What a huge worry for you, it's hard when you can't predict what's going to happen, all I can add is to try to keep her quiet with no excitement if that possible. Xx
