God that's so frightening. I forced myself to watch and I'm now in bits so I can only imagine what you must be feeling. It's such a good idea to have a video record for the vets, I really hope they can get to the bottom of it and can find a solution. I'm sending loads of hugs for you all.  :bigarmhug:

Thanks, it took all my powers to try not to touch her (too much) so they could see everything, but even if you just compare the 2 videos we managed to take you can see things have escalated considerably as far as collapse / seizure goes.

Very frightening. I have a corgi x with petit mal and his episodes are very like this. I hope you can get a diagnosis.

My childhood spaniel used to have fits like this, went on for a few minutes, then he would be a bit dazed and staggers for a while. We tried not to touch him during the fit, but just sit by him and talk to,him. Cause never found (this was 50 odd years ago), and he had them for years occasionally til he died of some thing completely different aged 18. Hope, your vet can come to a diagnosis and help your lass  :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug: it's very distressing to watch, I know.

Well we went back to specialist today, Bronte had an MRI scan and lumbar puncture under general aneasthetic and the provisional results seem fine, but will be confirmed within next few days. This only leaves epilepsy which means if results ok then medication will be commenced. Bronte doesn't react well the GA and although the procedure was over by 12.30pm she is still very drowsy and unable to stand up without being very wobbly. She has eaten though, typical Bronte but so far not had a drink or a piddle and to cap it all she came into season 3 days ago and it's her birthday in 2 days so feeling bad.

Everythign crossed you get some answers soon Karen and that if it is confirmed as epilepsy they can quickly ascertain the level of meds she needs to keep her stable xxxx

Golly golly, you'll  need a holiday after all this - what a worry!! Hope she's feeling a bit better this morning and that she's up and and about and fit enough to really be spoilt on her her birthday! She's such a little soldier having to endure all this poking around!! Keeping everything crossed really tight that you'll have your answers soon and that Bronte can finally start treatment. Lots of   :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug: for both of you and lots of  :luv: for the Birthday Girl!!

It has been confirmed that Bronte has Idiopathic Epilepsy, so we are in the process of starting medication. Have mixed feelings, glad I know what it is, but sad she will need lifelong meds that will have side effects to some degree.

It is good that you have a diagnosis now, but I do understand how you feel.  :bigarmhug:

Glad you now know what it is. Hopefully with time you will be able to relax more and lead a more normal life. X

So glad the suspense is over and you now know where you stand, its been a long story! Even if its the not the diagnosis you wanted, its better than some of the things you (and we!) originally feared it could have been and as lescef says, you'll begin to relax and get back to normal now.
Its not nice being dependent on medication a life long but lots of people are (incl. Me and OH) and the side effects aren't always necessarily as bad as predicted and if its stops those awful attacks, then I'm sure it'll be better for all of you.
All the best for little  Bronte, she's such a brave little girl and all the best for you too - you must have developed nerves of steel!
Keep us all posted! Sending  :bigarmhug: and  :luv:

Bobby also has idiopathic epilepsy and was diagnosed a couple of months ago. He was put on to 30mg Epithen, and like you, I panicked about the side-effects and the fact that he'd be on it for life. We have not had a single issue with him on it though :). No increased thirst, no weight increase, nothing. He hasn't had a fit since and had his bloods checked after 2 weeks and was (just) in the zone where the medication was working - think it had to be over 10 and he was 11 or 12 - but no seizures yet so fingers crossed.

Hopefully Bronte will be fine too. Please keep us posted as to how she gets on x
