Protruding Jaw
« on: March 20, 2007, 04:26:24 PM »
When we bought maddie we would told if she had any babies they could never be pedigree because she had a protruding bottom jaw (which is ok because she is so small we never intended to breed her and had her spayed).

I just wondered if anyone knows whether there are any health risks associated with this?

(I rather like it myself - gives her a stubborn cocky look!)  :005:

As long as she is able to eat normally it shouldn't give her any trouble  ;)

You do have to keep an eye on their teeth - possibly you'll have to clean them.

Whats the best way of cleaning her teeth Penel?  She is a really fussy eater and doesn't really like dry food so I have just changed her to naturediet (after reading through some of the posts on here) but I know dry food helps the teeth.

Thanks x

Feed a raw diet  ;)

failing that, get a toothbrush, and brush the teeth every day - either with a doggy toothpaste, or even just a wet toothbrush will help.  You have to train them to let you do it, gradually !
