This is a copied email and not my dog he's with a lovely vet nurse and her family who is so distraught at having to do this x
Can anyone please help?
Let me start by saying although we have been having some problems with him, he is a very sweet and loving dog and I hope we can find him a happy home.
Harry has been with us for three months now. We got him from a family that were moving away to Sri Lanka and didn't have the time for him anymore. Harry had been living outside in the garden and in the shed his whole life and was not allowed in the house.
To be honest really don't think the previous owners knew how to take care of a dog. We found him underweight, matted and had badly infected ears. He has not been trained very well and pulls a lot on the lead.
We have tried to train him but we have not had much luck with this area. He walks well off lead in an enclosed park but with open areas he would run across the road. He loves exploring all the hedges in the park and spends most of the time in the park doing this (as well as chasing squirrels and foxes!). He Is toilet trained and can do usual commands sit, stay and paw. Harry is also micro-chipped, neutered and vaccinated.
He is 5yrs old in February. Harry is totally food obsessed and his new owners can win him round with lots of treats!
Harry does have some problem areas:
A while ago he started to be aggressive to strangers in the street and has even attacked them on a couple of occasions. No one was hurt but as you can imagine it was very worrying. That was a few weeks ago and we think it may have been connected to an ear problem he was having at the time. Harry has to have regular ear cleaning to avoid ear infections.
He has also bitten two of our older children and we are now very concerned he may bite our young daughter. He has never displayed aggression towards her but it's always in the back of our minds.
He is very happy and loving with most people he meets and is fine with other dogs. Harry cannot live with a cat.
