To quote Mari " to make recall a fun thing" for me this is the be all and end all for training recall. Teal is coming up 5 now but most recalls are still rewarded as are sits at distance. A recall or sit will get a retrieve or instruction to hunt, a recall away from something really interesting gets a big reward like encouragement to run in to a couple of tennis balls so she gets to chase the bouncing ball. You have to find out what is the best thing since sliced bread for your pup.

If recall is ignored hide behind a tree or bush and just watch the pup most pups will notice you have gone pretty quickly you will normally notice a little oh sh*t iv'e lost her /him look on the pup recall and step out letting the pup see you. Now what ever you do don't over do this cockers are smart and will turn this into a game once or twice a week is enough.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.
Have taken this on board. They've kind of confirmed what I was beginning to think so will now go back to some basics and make the recall fun again
