Maudie attacked! By a cocker!
« on: February 05, 2007, 02:02:15 PM »
I was walking with Maudie this morning across a field nearby where I live. A few other mums from school were also in the field with their dogs.  One of the mums has a working type cocker and a cairn terrier. I dont know if It was because there was two of them and Maudie was on her own but the dogs attacked Maudie. She pulled the terrier off her but left the cocker. He was pushing her over and biting her face and ears. She was yelping and just couldnt get him off her. I ran over and just picked her up and walked away! I couldnt beleieve it. Fortunately she wasnt too badly hurt. Her ear is grazed and she is limping on her back leg. The vet checked her out and she has antibiotics for the grazed ear. He thinks her leg is ok. Think I was more shook up than her TBH. >:D I cant understand why she only pulled the one dog off. I think my OH will go to speak to her tonight he is furious!

Big kisses and cuddle to Maudie. The woman sounds really irresponsible to me.  >:(

Sorry to hear about Maudie,

I hope she makes a quick recovery !! Give her lots of cuddles and is there another dog you can socialise her with ?  To try and avoid any fear.

We go to puppy training on wednesdays but we meet lots of other dogs whilst we are out walking. I will avoid the field for a while anyway and will make sure that when we go again the other dogs arnt about. She does seem ok at the moment think it just shook her up a bit TBH! It could have been so much worse and after reading about scooby I think us very lucky!

I think it should be the law! You cant own a dog unless you can attend at least 6 weeks of puppy training! >:D

Oh my god  :o why the heck did she not get her dog off Maudie  >:D poor baby.

I hope your OH does go round tonight she needs speaking too, it could have been so much worse and it could happen again to somebody elses doggy. I strongly agree with Mandy take the vet bill to her.  >:D

I get so scared when this happeneds a couple of weeks ago a staffey went for my baby Floyd I was walking him on the field and this women was approaching with her staffey girl and said dont worry she doesnt bite, well she did and really went from him I paniked pulled him away which was difficult then she said 'oh she's always doing that the police  :police: are always coming round about her for biting'  >:D why the heck did she bring her over and say that she didnt bite!!!!!!!!!  >:D

Some people  >:D

poor maudie. :( i hope she feels better soon. :)

i can understand you both being very shaken by the experience. barkley has had a few scuffles with other over-excited or agressive dogs but we've only had one really serious incident, when he was about 7 months old. a collie x type just came from nowhere, with no owners in sight, and went straight for barkers. he sustained a couple of bites on his shoulders before us screaming and shouting at the dog got it to go away. it then came back for another go but we managed to intimidate it enough to give us time to get away. it really shook me up. :'(

after the initial shock, barkley seemed to be fine but we took it really easy for a few days and tried to avoid other dogs just for a little while, to give him some space. luckily, there were two gorgeous, gentle springer spaniels on the campsite where we were staying and two days later he was following them about quite happily. :)

Maybe threat of passing on the vets bill will make her a little more responsible in future !

Hope Maudie Ok.

Poor Maudie.  It is scary when something like that happens.

A boxer attacked Meg once and the owner was too far away to do anything.  I hit the dog with a book of maps I was carrying  ph34r  Don't usually hit dogs but this was a case of not wanting to get bitten myself and Meg was screaming at this point, all I wanted to do was help my baby!

I hope she recovers ok.

Poor Maudie, sending big kisses  :luv: :luv:

If you know this woman I would tell her how much it cost you at the vets and if she doesn't offer to pay the bill well then you know exactly what kind of person she is  >:D

Ppor Maudie that terrible. I hope she does not get traumatised by it all
It seems quite a few dogs have been attacked over the last few days. Does anybody think it may be due to the full moon. I know it can affect human behaviours? Or is it just rubbish owners?
