'Top Barks'...
« on: November 02, 2007, 07:49:18 PM »
Mark came round to our house today to help us with Poppy's behaviour.
She is very wary of certain people and Mark gave us loads of brilliant advice to help us work with Poppy.

Got to go...lots of clicker training to do... ;)

Thanks Mark!

Pleasure was all mine!
I'll have Poppy off you if she gets to much ;)
just try not to put her into situations where she may kick off and keep on working with her.
I have similar issues with Bayley and although I do not think he will ever be 100% around people we have made some great strides using the methods I showed you.
As I said, you know where I am if you need me and as you have already probably gathered I will talk cocker's till the cows come home if you let me!
best of luck and keep me informed.
Mark

Thanks guys,

Mark gave us lots of advice on how to manage her around people that she uncertain of.
Lots of clicker training, and if we think she's gonna react badly to a situation, like if someone walking towards us who she's unsure of, turn round and go back the way you came then when the people have overtaking you, turn round.
Also Mark was sitting on the floor waving his arms about and making weird noises, he got me to click and treat everytime Poppy looked back at me, so instead of her lunging at him as she would have normally done she was coming back to me...

Hard thing is trying to remember everything... ::)

Definitely the hens!!  :005:

Me too Poppet - I think Mark is an ace trainer by the sounds of it and there's been more than a few times I wished I still lived in York and could make professional use of him...oh dear, there I go again  :005:

Seriously Mark, I'm more than happy to be your agent. There's always room for new developments in the weird world of hens

Mark - I always knew you were a good trainer (Ben fell in love with you on the last walk big time) but I had no idea that you could be persuaded to be the party piece at a hen night!

Your talents are second to none  :005:

Poppet - you have had some brilliant advice - Mark is the bee's knee's where dogs are concerned (not sure about the hen night entertainment though  :005: )

From things Mark has posted it sounds like Mrs. Top Barks is a brilliant man trainer. You might want to invite her to the hen night instead!

I don't know if she uses a clicker or if she is one of those dominance/pack leader types!  :rofl1:
