I know!!! There's been some cockers qualified for the championship at 12-14 months old!!!! For that to happen they must have won previous to that!!!! Having a dog fully trained, especially to FT standards is amazing

well rolos breeder told me once that a dog of his won  something at novice trial at 10 months.!!!. he gave away a pup at 4 -5 months as he said by then he knew it didnt have that trialling special thing however shes an excellent dog and has good working instincts especially with birds. I dont know how he knows but he has many many FTCHs to his credit and has bred cocker championship winners too..
I wonder if its like working collies there are some who round up hens at 10 weeks ( just instinct and herding ability) and some who still cant do it at 10 months. as long as the training is fun to the pup and instinct will out!
