Natural Instinct - For BARF'ers/Part BARF'ers
« on: September 15, 2009, 05:56:18 PM »
Here is a link to a relatively new company http://www.naturalinstinct.com/
Which might interest any BARF/Part BARF'ers, they had a stall at Richmond Championship Show and they looked pretty good...

Agree, it does look good  :D  It looks quite expensive compared to DIY BARF but would be great for a beginner or for when someone else is looking after your dog  ;)

It does look a very interesting and well written, well thought out site.
I am however horrified by the prices as compared to AMP/Prize Choice, which I use.
Weight for weight they are between three and four times the price  :o

Does that food have the oils, kelp, veg and fruit in as well?  Just wondering. :-\

I think this is the BARF equivalent of a complete food so I guess it would be more expensive.  AFAIK AMP/Prize Choice are just meat or meat and bone.  I am sure it would be very convenient but I agree it is expensive - about £5 a kilo which is as much as some of the cheaper meat cuts are in the supermarket.  :-\

No, true Sheryl, it doesn't. I also have to faff about with the veggies, but if these foods are bulked out with veggies, surely the price could be competative with AMP at least  :dunno:. Veggies are cheaper than meat after all  ;)

I agree it does seem quite expensive but i guess your paying for the convenience...(must admit time & organisation is a big factor with me & BARF) i'm going to order some to try when i'm getting low and will let you know how i get on.....

Yes Sheryl it appears they do add oils, kelp, brewers yeast , fruit & veg and i'm sure he said to be it also contains ground bone??

A 1kg bag of banquet nuggets from AMP  is £2.20, A 1kg pack of Natural Chicken for example from NI is £4.29...they don't charge delivery like AMP but it is quite a difference.... Perhaps we should all e-mail them about the price ...maybe they would re-consider them  :005:

I think I may give it a whirl.  I am sure I read that delivery is free.

I might give it a go as well. Delivery is free, minimum order 6kgs.

William has Burns in the morning and banquet nuggets in the evening and it seems to suit him really well. I'd like to get Louis on something similar when he's a bit older, although I see Natural Instinct do a puppy version.

I tried this food last week my dogs absolutely loved it. (Lamb and chicken) It smelt really nice. I also had some bones from them aswell and was very impressed!

I also received an email saying that they have increased the size of each pack to 1kg so you get more for your money.

The plain chicken one (just chicken and bone) is £24 for 14kg which I think is very good value!

I would absolutely recommend it.
