Title: Insurance recommendation please
Post by: Rhodri0311 on December 28, 2015, 05:14:10 PM
Hi,

My little golden cocker spaniel puppy will be coming to live with us on Saturday - he will be covered for five weeks with the Kennel Club but I will then be looking for insurance for him.

I've been shopping around but there are so many insurers and so many types of policies available. I'm leaning towards a lifetime policy but would be really grateful for any advice and recommendations.

Thanks.

From my understanding you must have a life time insurance   I'm with John Lewis, only used it once but they paid-up quickly. (minus the standard excess)

We have been with Petplan for over 16 years and never had a problem with them paying out.

Once they reach the age of 10 years old, you have to pay 20% of the treatment, medication, etc.

You'll find loads of insurance information on the "Insurance" child board which is just below this "Health" board in the main menu.

Lifetime insurance is by far the best option and I'd recommend £7,000 as a minimum amount of coverage as vet bills, especially for the more specialist procedures, can be eye-wateringly huge.

Our two are with Animal Friends insurance and I've nothing but praise for the service we've received but there are many others out there, each with their good and bad points.
