I had the same problem and, yes, I think it's to do with the IE update.
There's another post somewhere on here that advises you to click on the little box that looks like a piece of paper with a green zig zag across it. You'll find it at the top of your screen on the right of the bit that has the blue back and forward buttons on it and also the address of the website you're currently on.

Anyway, if you hover your cursor over the box it tells you that it will make websites designed for older browsers compatible with the later versions of IE.
It worked for me, and I've used it on a few more websites as well.
