Well done Caoimhe (how do you pronounce that?) I think this is what one of my colleagues got with one of her welsh springers - I watched her being awarded it at Crufts in March by the Duke of something or other. Is that the one? Will you and Caoimhe be presented with yours at Crufts?
It's pronounced keeva (not the most obvious I know
). No that's not the same thing, field trial dogs (spaniels anyway, and some HPRs) aren't allowed at Crufts because of the docking regulations. There's an award at the end of the actual trial when the organisers/judges announce the placings and give out the prizes/trophies/certificates from the gundog club holding the trial so she has a trophy from that and a certificate naming her as the winner. Once the club submits the results of the trial to the Kennel Club (and she does a water retrieve in front of 2 A panel judges which she did today at a novice trial Simon was running another dog in) they then send out the official certificate naming her as a Field Trial Champion. She already has one naming her as an Open trial winner. I'm not sure what your friend's dog got, perhaps a show gundog working certificate or maybe she won something in the Gamekeeper's Ring. I think there are a few awards that show dogs can go for now which are non-competitive but show that they have working ability.
