Need technical help with emails

Please can someone explain in tiny little words what I need to do. (not the IT bod in the house and OH is away)

I've got a dispute open with paypal, paypal says they are sending me emails but I'm not receiving them! They aren't in the junk folder or inbox but show on the dispute section that they have been sent and guy resent one when we were on the phone that didn't arrive.  He said to check my spam filters. (That's the prob! How do I check them? - and what do I need to change the too?)

Please reply in tiny little computer words so that I can understand the instructions!

sign in to your email and open up your Spam mail
there should be an 'Edit settings' on that page

it could be that yours is set to delete spam mail on receipt
if so just choose the option to delete after one month

Thanks for the advice but I can't find a spam mail link or folder.
I'm usung hotmail if that's any help

ok

on your email page, look on the right hand side for 'options'
click on that and you will have a list
on the 'junk email' choose - 'filters and reporting'
you will then have a list of options to sort how to deal with your junk mail

  Found it now!
Can I retrieve the paypal emails that were blocked? or are they gone forever?  I thought they would have gone into the junk folder - but I do know OH has been fiddling!!

have you looked in your deleted folder - they may still be in there!

Had a look in the deleted folder, there's stuff going back 2 weeks or so, but not the 3 emails sent today. 
Thanks for the help, will get to check settings on weekend (I'm not usually allowed administrator settings as I tend to 'fiddle and kill'!)

Are the e mails from paypal not in your inbox in My Ebay ??

No, first I knew was when I logged into paypal and my balance was incorrect ahd there was a message saying there was a dispute open. Someone I sold to is being investigated, he's since closed his ebay account and although he has 100% feedback paypal are suspicious due to the nature of his spending patterns.  Fortunately I have DHL paperwork and am covered by the protection scheme.
