The write-up from the trial Caoimhe won has been put on the Gundog Society website, I'm really pleased with it.
She is 'Simon Tyers' hard-hunting bitch' by the way
Novice Cocker Spaniel Stake
at Orsett, Essex
Wednesday 5th January 2011
Judges: Mr T. Baker and Mr S. ParkerThe card looked liked the Championships with all the top handlers
coming to Essex for this Trial.
Mark Polley and his team had again prepared the ground well with
the dogs finding so much game you could have thought it was the
first month of the season, not the last! The guns took a little
longer to find their form which gave Robin Laud’s bitch six contact
flushes before his retrieve. The standard was exceptional with ten
awards in this sixteen dog stake.
Woodcock dropping in the plough dropped a number of top dogs
down the order. A top contender, Mallowdale Music, went out
after failing to make the fall on a woodcock shot out of bramble.
Simon Tyers hard hunting bitch hunted the stick piles with a
vengeance before a nice find on a cock shot out on the plough
putting him into a run off with Robin Laud. Robin and Simon took
their bitches into the laid cover crop and it was a difficult decision
to split them but Simon came out on top.
