Title: middle aged cocker spaniel for family?

We are a Cambridge family (parents and a 13 year old, two cats and a free-range rabbit).  Our (rescued) cocker spainel, Sam died in the summer leaving us bereft and we are now ready to think about another.
Ideally a middle-aged cocker spaniel, up for some fun but happy to sleep through the boring bits of the day would suit us perfectly.
any ideas??
Would travel for the right dog.........
